Every holiday season, Scorpion looks for ways to make a difference in the communities where we live and work. And in this unusual and unpredictable year, we saw the opportunity to spread some cheer by delivering a joyful gift-giving experience to local families who are in a tough spot.
In partnership with a few fantastic organizations, we set out to gather gifts and donations for packages we hoped would make the season a little more special. Scorpion employees split into teams to encourage some friendly, charitable competition and had the option to donate funds, individual items toward a family basket, or to “adopt” a whole family themselves, covering everything they needed.
Three charities helped us get connected with families in need: The Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Clarita Valley and Greater Dallas, which focus on enabling all young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens, as well as the Michael Hoefflin Foundation, an organization that provides individualized, caring support for children diagnosed with cancer and their families. Over the course of a month, we gathered essentials like clothing, grocery gift cards, and household items, in addition to unique presents for each family member.
Once the gifts were gathered and our donation totals were tallied, volunteers from Scorpion got to work sorting, wrapping, and distributing the gifts to their happy recipients!
This year, donations and gifts from all of our groups totaled over $25,000, which allowed us to adopt 35 families between the three organizations, plus additional toy donations for the Michael Hoefflin Foundation.
“We are incredibly moved by Scorpion’s generosity. The holiday adoption program is an annual tradition but we’ve never seen this level of giving before. Scorpion is providing holiday joy to twenty Boys & Girls Club families in need fulfilling each family’s Christmas wishlist. Boys & Girls Club is proud to be able to connect such a generous local business with families in need here in the Santa Clarita Valley.”
